Biography:

‘had me in a complete trance from beginning to end. wow! brings a whole new angle to poetry’

Ann is a performer and writer. She loves MC-ing at gigs, literature events and festivals. She is a member of the Word Market committee. Word Market is a fantastic organisation for readers and writers in Cumbria. Each year there is a Word Market festival in South Cumbria.

She enjoys singing and playing guitar. She has written some songs which she performs sometimes and one day she might get around to recording them. She enjoys working with other artists especially musicians. . She has just finished working on Heron Song, a project with three musicians writing community songs with young people.

Tracks 1-4 Clutter with Ann Wilson :: Tracks 5 - 19 Ann Wilson

A collaboration with poet Clutter for a mixed media exhibition which was held at The Nest in Barrow-in-Furness from May-July 2006

Ann responded in poetry to lo-fi digital photos of Barrow Island taken by Clutter’s Shaun Blezard. The poems were then recorded and added to a soundscape created by Shaun, incorporating field recordings of the island. Shaun also used recording of Ann singing some of the poems, recorded on her mobile phone.

The Resting Bench album - which includes the soundscape, the original recordings of the poems and copies of the exhibition artwork is the first release on Talking Monkey

Ann also played an improvised ‘remix’ of The Resting Bench with Shaun to launch the exhibition live at The Nest on 20th May 2006. A recording of this can be streamed or downloaded here

An amazing 30 reworkings of The Resting Bench tracks from artists based all over the globe, some are old Monkey favourites but a great deal of them are new to EMP.

From cool Hip Hop to all out sonic attack it’s an eclectic bag of fantastic remixes that show just how far you can re-mould without just taking the original track and sticking a Kick Drum under it.
