---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Biography: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emvelope Nine is Alan Daly, born in Birmingham to a couple of beautiful people. Whilst studying Music Technology at college he formed his band 'Six Reels of Joy', an experimental post-rock outfit, who after many shows around the midlands decided to split up. In the wake of this, Alan’s knowledge and passion for electronic music pushed him to create his own sounds under the moniker 'Emvelope Nine', a subtle homage to the late Budd Dwyer. His sounds are focused around image and colour, forming rich aural representation reminiscent of Fennesz and Vladislav Delay'

This is a direct yet almost delicate work, direct and restrained rather than overbearing or lost in the drones. Silence figures in here amid the melodies. I particularly like "Calvaire", resonating collection of bell-like tones set into melody, sometimes clicking in mild, intended glitch, surrounded by silences which accentuate the pieces. "Low City Inhale" has an appealing down tempo resonant drone, again wisely using alterations in the sound patterns to provide an unexpected twist in the sound. "Set One" is a lovely orchestral drone piece, in the best tradition of symphonic-homage ambient. "Paramedic" features glissandi of bells, along with intriguing "sounds like a scratched 78" atmospheric pads. "Curl" uses field recording-type material as an experiment in noise atmospheres--not at all stark, and actually quite interesting. This is not Lustmord territory, fascinating though that pathless land may be, but perhaps for those who remember the wonder of the intervals of silence on a first listen of "Music for Airports". I recommend Haan to the ambient listener who is looking for melodic ambient presented in fresh and workable ways. This is a solid download from Earth Monkey’ - Review of Haan at Earlabs ‘... i can't help but feel reminded of lost love, and the emptiness of the days afterward ... absolutely touching my friend, i can't stress that enough! :-)’ - She moved through the fair ‘you make beautiful music... what a gift you have for carving lush ambient sculptures’ - soma for kinder ‘dig the ringing beauty of your tracks. really excellent soundscaping’.- abulafia ‘Your material is wonderful, to. Deep, delicate, dark, and nostalgic’ - Robert Logan ‘Someone once remarked that writing about music is like swimming about custard. Or something. I'm reminded of that now because whilst I can say that your music is beautiful, intricate and engaging, I'm probably still not doing it justice. It's lovely stuff. ‘ - Portal ‘gentle, deep and thoughtful... I have heard your tracks several times now, and it feels almost like the sounds are produced inside the brain or in the inner ear... Very calm and yet questioning in a whispering way. Every time I hear a track again, it seems to me like something has changed a little, as if my hearing had something to do with what I actually hear. Strange and fascinating illusion.’ - Naitsirhc Tdnarbedlih ‘It all sounds perfect late at night.. ‘ - Drum Drone ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact: Emvelope Nine @ Myspace Split Femur Recordings website where you can buy the fantastic full length Emvelope Nine album Melt Canal Split Femur Recordings @ Myspace ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
